As a crucial industrial cluster for hardware products in China, competition in Zhongshan has evolved from focusing solely on cost and scale to a comprehensive evaluation of quality, delivery time, and green manufacturing. For this leading enterprise client, its original multiple outdated, scattered semi-automatic production lines had become a clear constraint on development: inconsistent process standards across different lines caused product color variations; heavy reliance on skilled operators led to dual pressures of labor shortage and rising costs; meanwhile, decentralized wastewater treatment struggled to meet increasingly consolidated environmental regulations. The corporate decision-makers resolved to invest in building a modern, fully automatic electroplating line representing the industry's future direction to fundamentally transform their production model.
Dingli Technology planned an upgrade path for this project centered on "Flexible Intelligent Manufacturing." The production line utilizes a modular-designed gantry-style automatic hoist system, with its core advantage being "one line, multiple capabilities." Through a rich library of pre-set process recipes in the central control system, the line can rapidly switch between executing different plating processes such as chrome, nickel, zinc, and imitation gold plating on the same hardware framework. Merely changing racks and adjusting programs allows flexible response to vastly different order requirements, perfectly aligning with the hardware industry's characteristics of "multiple batches, small volumes, and multiple plating types." The intelligent hoist is equipped with visual positioning and anti-sway systems, ensuring precise and stable entry and exit of precision racks into each process tank even during rapid transfer, significantly reducing the risk of damage.
The project achieved revolutionary progress in quality consistency and process control. The entire line integrates dozens of online sensors that conduct 24/7 uninterrupted monitoring and automatic replenishment of key bath parameters, including temperature, pH, metal ion concentration, and current density, stabilizing the process window within the optimal range. The complete plating parameters for each rack of products are recorded and linked to a unique ID, enabling full traceability from raw material to finished product. This data-driven control model completely ended the historical reliance on veteran operators' experience for "bath watching," ensuring product quality no longer fluctuates due to personnel changes.
Furthermore, the project deeply embodied the philosophy of synergy between environmental protection and economic benefit. The production line's final stage is configured with efficient multi-stage counter-current rinsing and membrane-based heavy metal recovery units. Rinse water recycling exceeds 85%, and recovered precious metal ions are returned to the production baths, generating direct economic returns while significantly reducing total wastewater discharge. The centralized exhaust gas treatment system is more efficient and has lower operating costs compared to the previous decentralized setup.
Following the project's commissioning, the client's factory underwent a remarkable transformation. Production efficiency increased by over 200%, with per capita output efficiency seeing an order-of-magnitude improvement. The product yield rate stabilized at over 99%, up from approximately 92%, with enhanced appearance consistency and corrosion resistance earning unanimous recognition from high-end clients. Environmental performance and compliance achieved a qualitative leap, making the site a recommended model for clean production demonstration by local environmental authorities. This production line has not only become the solid foundation for the client to secure international high-end orders and enhance brand value but also provides a replicable success model for the intelligent and green transformation of Zhongshan's traditional hardware manufacturing industry.
